About Fred Smith
Fred founded Frederick D Smith LLC in 2004 after 25 years in leadership roles in consulting, industry, and academia. His work has focused on providing practical solutions, tools, and processes in leadership development, executive team development and coaching, human capital practices, talent management, and change management. He has worked with over 60 organizations in the public and private sector at all organizational levels and in over a dozen industries.Before founding his company, Fred was East Region Leader for the HR Management Business of Mellon's HR and Investor Solutions Group, delivering organization development and HR transformation solutions. He also served as the Talent and Performance Practice Leader for Mellon.Prior to that, he was a Director in the Global Human Resource Services practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, working with organizations to transform and outsource HR, and leading change management efforts for clients. Before joining PwC, he was Senior Vice President in Aon Consulting's HR Consulting Group and Managing Director of the Great Lakes Region. He and his team provided employee and leadership assessment and selection tools to Fortune 500 clients. Fred obtained a BS in Psychology and an MS in Industrial Psychology from Penn State. His first two years of undergraduate work were at the US Air Force Academy, where he developed his initial interest in leadership studies, and experienced first-hand a wide range of leadership styles. Fred has contributed to books on performance assessment and absenteeism, and has been a psychology instructor and guest lecturer on leadership and human capital topics.
